The A01 Huggle Hood is a modern, versatile knitted hood pattern and the first design in the newly launched Accessory Edit. Designed to be both practical and stylish, this relaxed hood features bold striped colourwork, a contrast rib binding, and playful i-cord ties. It can be worn as a cosy neck warmer or pulled up over the head for extra warmth on colder days. Perfect for mindful makers, this pattern is ideal for using up yarn scraps to create a unique, statement accessory. The sample shown is worked with multiple strands held together to achieve an DK weight, though a single strand of equivalent weight can also be used.

The Huggle Hood is graded from baby (3 months) through to large adult, with adult sizes labelled numerically to remain consistent across our patterns. Please refer to the finished measurements to select your preferred fit.

The hood begins with a small cast on using the main colour, before working into Half Fisherman’s Rib, which is used throughout to create a plush, lofty texture. Stripes are formed by changing colours every two rows. The piece is worked flat until the required length is reached, after which the live stitches are placed on hold. Stitches are then picked up along both sides and joined with the held stitches to shape the hood, with a short section of gentle shaping worked to accommodate the fullness of the head.

Further shaping increases are worked at the front edge to bring the hood neatly around and under the chin before joining to work in the round. The hood is then completed with a ribbed hem in the main colour.

To finish, a ribbed binding is applied to frame the face, and a contrast i-cord tie is worked and threaded through the folded binding — creating a thoughtful, polished detail that completes your Huggle Hood, ready to wear.
