The 12 Shaped Sweater is a relaxed yet refined crew neck knit, featuring compound raglan shaping for a flattering fit across the shoulders and upper body. Thoughtfully placed increases and decreases sculpt the sleeves and body, while the oversized silhouette and deep twisted rib neckline give a polished, contemporary finish. Designed to be worn with approximately 23 cm (9”) of positive ease, this sweater offers comfort and quiet elegance, with the option to add a gently curved hem at the back.

To begin, stitches are cast on for the top of the sleeves and back. Raglan shaping is worked while the front neckline is formed, and the front is joined once the shaping is complete. Compound raglan increases follow the natural lines of the body, increasing more quickly through the upper and lower yoke, and more gradually through the centre section for a smoother fit.

Once the yoke is complete, sleeve stitches are placed on hold while the body is worked in the round. Increases and decreases are worked with precision to form a V-shaped detail at the back and mock forward seams at the front. If desired, short rows can be added at the hem to subtly lengthen the back before finishing with a deep twisted rib.

The sleeves are then completed with shaping on the overarm to add volume, finished with matching twisted rib cuffs.

To finish, stitches are picked up around the neckline and a deep twisted rib band is worked, folded, and sewn down. The result is a wearable, sculptural piece that brings together tailored detail and relaxed style.
