01 Covered Cardi

A relaxed, layer-ready cardigan with a voluminous, squishy texture and effortless drape. Designed for mindful makers and modern wardrobes.

The 01 Covered Cardi is the ultimate chuck-on layer for everything from breezy spring mornings to crisp autumn afternoons. With a slouchy, oversized silhouette and approximately 22 cm (9”) of positive ease at the bust, this cardigan offers comfort and contemporary style in one. Worked in Half Fisherman’s Rib, on 3 mm needles, the stitch pattern creates a beautifully textured fabric that feels plush and bouncy to wear.

The body is worked flat from the hem up, with carefully placed shaping increases at the side seams to contour the fit. The neckline and modified drop shoulder armholes are shaped at the same time, giving a well-balanced and flattering fit across all sizes.

Sleeves are worked separately and shaped with increases along the overarm and forearm to add gentle volume.

To finish, the garment is seamed together, ribbed bindings are attached, and large self-covered buttons are sewn on. The result is a versatile, thoughtfully designed cardigan that fits seamlessly into a contemporary handmade wardrobe.

Please note that these measurements are only met if gauge is achieved.
The cardigan is designed with 22 cm/9" of positive ease. This means the garment will be approx. 22 cm/9" larger than your actual bust circumference. Before you begin, measure yourself to determine the right size. If you are in between sizes, choose the size based on how you would prefer the garment to fit. 

Chest Width (flat): 43 (48, 53.5, 58, 63, 68, 73.5, 78.5) cm/17¼ (19¼, 21½, 23¼, 25¼, 27¼, 29½, 31½)
Finished Length: 44 (46, 48, 48, 50, 50, 50, 52) cm/17¾ (18½, 19¼, 19¼, 20, 20, 20, 20¾)

Materials
Sport weight yarn; Milla Mia Naturally Soft Merino (50 g/1.8 oz, 125 m/137 yds, 100% merino wool) 10 (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 15, 17) skeins.

Approx. meterage needed 1150 (1270, 1440, 1520, 1700, 1750, 1850, 2090) m/ 1258 (1389, 1575, 1663, 1860, 1914, 2023, 2286) yds, including enough for gauge swatch

3 mm / US 2.5 needle for working flat. Straight or circular as you prefer 
3 mm / US 2.5 needle 80cm - 100cm / 32” - 40” circular for neck and button band

Gauge After Blocking 
23 sts and 51 rows = 10 cm (4 inch) square in Half Fisherman’s Rib stitch using 3 mm / US 2.5 needles
